On Friday morning, May 23, 2008, a single-engined Beechcraft V35 Bonanza crashed in the trees some 4000 feet short of the runway at Fall River Mills aiport. Luckily no one on the ground was injured. The plane is registered to a resident of Mendocino County. The four occupants were killed on impact and have not yet been identified.
This fatal plane crash highlights the increasing frequency of airplane crashes that are occuring in Northern California. The plane purportedily sputtered and stalled as it banked into a turn on approach. Weather does not appear to have been a factor. The cause of the accident is to be evaluated by the the National Transportation Safety board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The subject airstrip was developed around WWII. Recently it was lengthened from 3000 feet to 5000 feet.

They were friends of mine.
Matthew we truly have lost some great friends. I know how hard it has been on me and my husband. I'm sending out my thoughts and prayers to all their family and many friends. Its going to be really hard to get through this.
The entire Paulson family are friends of ours and we simply cannot get over this tragedy! Why have the names of all 4 passengers not been released yet? We have been told that in addition to Keith and Jaynie being onboard, that Amy's husband, Vince Whitely and Brian's girlfriend were with them. Please know our hearts and love go out to you all!
Vince was my best friend. This is very upsetting.
Amy is a sorority sister of mine and we have all been notified and are sending all our love to her, the kids and the entire family. We knew her parents and Vince and are all in shock over this tragic event. Does anyone have info on services yet?
My family/parents have been friends with Keith and Jaynie since high school, 45 years. My whole family is having a real hard time dealing with the loss. This is just a horrible tragedy...no words can describe. Service for Vince is Thursday and for Keith and Jaynie is on Sunday. I do not know when Jennifer's service is at this time.
I did not know Keith well. However, last Sunday he dropped by my hanger to talk for a few minutes, and that makes the loss seem more personal. My condolences to all who new him well.
Keith and I were friends for 55 years and I could not believe it when my mother called with this terrible news.I will miss his funny emails and his great sense of humor. He could always make me smile. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Vincent was my nephew and words can't describe this horrible tragedy. He was such a great kid growing up and an extremely talented artist, who would draw and paint for hours on end. The saddest part is that his young children will never know his quick wit, sense of humor and ability to become friends with everyone he ever met. God bless them all.
