A former employee of an East St. Louis city department has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the city. The woman claims that she lost her job after refusing to sign a petition in 2006. She worked for the Community Development Department.

According to a lawsuit Robinson filed against the City of East St. Louis, the city "violated the plaintiff's substantive and procedural due process rights by terminating her without cuase as the plaintiff was entitled to a hearing to determine the basis of her termination," the complaint states.

The lawsuit is asking for over $50,000 in damages. The woman worked for the department for approximately three months. The petition was for someone running for a political office.
